The Grand Hyatt Berlin is situated in an area of the city which underwent a complete remodelling after the fall of the Berlin Wall upon design of Renzo Piano. The architect Rafael Moneo designed the building, while the designer Hannes Wettstein created the interiors.
It is an art hotel, where the design of the interiors, furnished turnkey by Interna, were carefully planned to give prominence to the art works displayed. The clean lines and homogeneity of the colours palette in the public areas create the perfect frame for the exceptional masterpieces displayed on the walls, including works from the artists Julio Rondo and Corsin Fontana. the furniture of the presidential suite recalls the black and white tones of the photo of Gert Rappenecker, while the simple, elegant panelling contrasts with and enhances the modern and surprising blues of the Kurt Hofmann painting. The leitmotiv of the design for this hotel was simplicity and the straight lines and perfect geometry used follow this guiding principle but also evoke a sense of splendour. The rooms, styled with the same linear simplicity to be found throughout the hotel, offer all the comfort and facilities of a true luxury hotel.
