Pamela Babey

“I like to think of every new project as a carta bianca. The process begins by listening and getting to know the owner; only then am I able to create a personal space that reflects their personality. I take great joy in encouraging the artisan so that I can layer unique pieces made with passion and care, everything from rich plaster walls to the trim on a cushion.”

Widely recognized as a visionary in the world of luxury interiors, Pamela Babey is a Founding Principal of San Francisco interior design firm BAMO. Babey designs hotels, residences and yachts for discerning clients around the globe. Her projects include extraordinary properties like the Villa Feltrinelli on Lago di Garda - where she worked in close contact with Interna that supplied turn key all the furniture and furnishings- and Four Seasons Hotels in Milan, Uruguay, and Bora Bora, which received three Gold Key Awards. Babey’s recent residential commissions include a villa in Abu Dhabi, a family compound in Beijing, several homes on The Peak in Hong Kong, and a super yacht. Born in New York but raised in a century-old adobe house in southern New Mexico, Babey travelled extensively with her parents as they pursued their interest in Mexican folk art and European antiques. Annual family pilgrimages to New York and Mexico engendered a love of art and antiques, fashion and textiles. Now, a sensibility for richness in colour and texture, comfort, and visual delight are Babey style signatures. Pamela Babey holds a BA in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley and is an active member of Save Venice. She is also a member of Interior Design’s Hall of Fame and Hospitality Design’s Platinum Circle. Babey’s home was recently published in the book Fortuny Interiors and her work has been featured in Architectural Digest, The New York Times Magazine, Town & Country, House & Garden and many other publications.
